Ankeny Church Launches #ForAnkeny Campaign to Assists Local Students and Social Agencies

Ankeny IA – The Keystone Church Ankeny is delighted to announce the launch of their #ForAnkeny campaign which is aimed at helping students and social agencies within the local Ankeny area. This is the first major community initiative the church has been involved in since its launch on April 23rd.

The monetary goal for the campaign is $10,000. To accomplish this goal, every adult member of the congregation is being called on to donate $30.00. One hundred percent of the money raised from the campaign will be donated to local causes. The church is working fervently on this initiative, including publicizing the campaign through their new website. Being a modern and forward-thinking church, they are also embracing technology, with the use of the #For Ankeny tag.

As well as money, families are being asked to bring either non-perishable food items or personal care items. To try and ensure there is an equal mix the congregation has been split into two sections depending on their last name. Those whose surname beings with the letters A thru M should bring non-perishable food and the remainder of the congregation should bring personal care items.  The collections will take place on October 29th with the charities and other organizations attending the following Monday to select the most appropriate items for their individual requirements.

“Ankeny IA has a perception amongst the general public of being a relatively affluent area,” said Pastor Brent Mintner. “However, the reality is very different, with large numbers of the population living in poverty. There are many more students for instance who receive free school meals than would be expected, and the homeless population continues to grow. We don’t want to be a church the just gathers on a Sunday morning; we want to be a church that is a blessing to our community, and that is why we are launching the #ForAnkeny campaign.”

A night of worship will follow the event, in which members will gather to thank God, and pray for those who will be receiving the items. More information about the event can be found on the church website at If anyone else wants to get involved or contribute time, effort or money to the campaign, then contact the church as quickly as possible.
